hey. the stigma and hatred surrounding addicts is an extension of the demonization of the mentally ill. it’s not based in anything but stereotypes and misinformation.

ive seen people be like “treat the mentally ill with respect!” and then turn around and go “but not those dirty, dirty addicts.“ “Theyre using for fun!” “they’re taking meds from mentally ill ppl that need them and are Actually Ableist” obviously this is an exaggeration lol but the hypocrisy. my goddd

The majority of addicts are mentally ill! The two groups are intertwined! If you think you care about the mentally ill but shame and hate addicts, you need to think again!
