hot take: you’re not “just being a realist” when you constantly point out that a lot of gay kids don’t ever get the acceptance and love that simon does at the end of love, simon we all know that already we’re very painfully aware that families kick their kids out for being gay and kids kill themselves over their sexuality everyday and that you can be put to death in almost a dozen countries for being gay we get it we don’t need scores of think pieces on why you think all gay media has to be sad to be realistic let people enjoy seeing themselves represented in a major mainstream romcom that has an ending full of love and happiness and keep your “realism” to yourself thanks for coming to my ted talk
