Here’s my two cents:

Molly seemed genuinely scared of learning about his past but I think there are two reasons he voiced and we are not really focusing on yet.

A. He’s afraid that he won’t like what he finds, that hus other self was a bad person and that knowing his past will bind him to that responsibility or somehow disprove what he believes himself to be, a good person trying his best and living by a selfmade code.

B. (and I think this is the main one) It’s pure and raw existencial fear. Molly says he has constructed his person, he likes this person, he likes being Molly and he is pretty much his own individual. If Lucian comes back, where does Molly go? Does he die? Does this person, that is all he’s known and that is who he truly is right now, disappear entirely? I feel Molly fears his past not because of what it holds but because of what it could mean for his future.
