post apoc media is always banging on about the necessity of macho survival skills but frankly it’s the gardeners/farmers who know 150 preservation techniques for winter beets and who understand the art of good pH balance in compost who will survive on our non energy dependent farms while you all butcher each other with katanas in burnt out shopping centres

And if you ever want to see me go absolutely ballistic, get me drinking and mention those “seed stash” kits that people sell to gullible preppers, as if they’ll simply start a garden from scratch once the apocalypse comes, with generic Burpee leftovers, in their lawn, with no prep, no expertise, no experience, and zombie manure as their only fertilizer.

After those seeds have sat in their non-climate controlled garage for five years. Good luck getting those things to germinate – you’re gonna need it.

I fail to see why zombies would make bad fertilizer.

Same reason human corpses make bad fertilizer – they are rotting disease-vectors. You don’t want those around anything you’re going to put in your mouth.
