the main issue here isn’t even that we’re not getting any endgame lgbt couples. the issue is that they told us we were. they were so proud when announcing that shiro was gay and that he had a fiancé, so fucking pleased with themselves, and we, because the majority of this fandom are lgbt youth, ate that shit up because finally!! they got us excited and used klance hashtags, did interviews on klance, told us that adashi was important, that we would be happy with what we got. they gave their lgbt viewers hope, knowing the whole time how it would end. that is so fucked up and just blatantly homophobic.
You know what’s a little sad? People thinking Klance (or any other lgbt ship or thing) won’t become canon because Shiro is lgbt. There is so little lgbt shown in media, that once a show gets any at all, no one even expects there to be more because getting even some is such an extreme thing. I’ve heard so many people say, “They already have lgbt with Shiro and Adam so why would they need any more?” Like they’ve already met their quota so why put more in. The show has proved it supports it so there’s no need to have more in there. But don’t you think that’s sad? Like having more than just one character or one couple be lgbt is asking too much? Or that people see no reason for it? And I don’t mean this to further promote my ships or characters or anything, I was just thinking about it in general. Like do you know how many straight couples you can find in a single show, but you have one gay couple and everyone’s like, “Alright that’s enough. No need for any more because they’ve already shown their rep.” Don’t get me wrong, Shiro being lgbt is an amazing step and I’m super happy for it, I just wish everyone didn’t think it has to end there.
