Molly: “I can read fortunes on occasion…”
Jester: “I was going to ask if you read fortunes! Can you do one now?”
Molly: “I knew you were gonna ask that!”
Jester: “Oh my gosh you’re so smart! Look at this guy, he knows everything!”

A really cool photo from Raleigh Supercon of my Mollymauk!

Photo and editing by Jonathan Vasquez, check out his work at jonv_photography on Instagram, he has lots of really awesome cosplay photography there, even his hall shots like this come out great! And we all know how bad convention center/hotel lighting is…

According to Matt’s twitter, the Mighty Nein are now level 6! Let’s see what new abilities they get:

Jester: Can now turn invisible pretty much at will for one round. I’m super excited to see what Laura does with this.

Fjord: Can now command the spirit of a humanoid he kills to follow him like a specter and attack for him (lasts until the next long rest). This is super freaky, and I’m excited to see Travis RP with it – I can’t imagine Fjord is gonna be calm about this weirdness.

Nott: Gets to add “expertise” and double her proficiency bonus on two more skills. Hopefully she picks lock-picking.

Caleb: Transmuter’s stone! We saw Liam RP him trying to make this. It’s a super cool item that gives him either darkvision, a speed increase, proficiency in Con. saves, or resistance to some damage types. He can change what it does any time he casts a transmutation spell.

Yasha: Can now reroll any saving throw if she fails it while raging. This is gonna be super clutch.

Caduceus: Can now, 5 times per long rest (his wisdom modifier) negate any critical hit on himself or an ally so it becomes a normal hit. THIS IS AWESOME.

Beau: Her unarmed attacks now count as “magical” (ki-empowered) and she can also basically punch someone into telling her the truth (”Extort Truth”) – since she can choose to have that do no damage, can you imagine the drama if she felt it necessary to use on someone in the party? I’m here for it.

The fact that Taliesin Jaffe very deliberately cast a spell that would start destroying Molly’s body even faster than normal means that it was his decision not to bring Molly back. Taliesin said his goodbyes to Mollymauk and is moving on. He’s even doing the kindest thing he can do for Molly and making sure his body doesn’t rise again as an empty and lost shell, alone and in pain.

Don’t go on about how they didn’t ‘try’. There was nothing to try. They have no spell components and no ability to cast powerful enough rez spells. And Taliesin made sure that nobody else would be able to try with Clay’s decompose spell (which isn’t a spell in 5e, no, but it IS a spell in Pathfinder, the game they all played originally. Matt homebrews plenty of shit). That’s Taliesin’s choice to make and no one else’s.

Rest in peace Mollymauk, you were loved and always will be.

(go get you some good dick from Vax in the afterlife)

I’m in love with the way the gang is celebrating Molly. Getting super drunk at a bar and confiding in each other about how they feel, Beau running into the streets and setting off fireworks while yelling “For Molly!”, Caleb setting off dancing lights in the middle of the day just for fun, all of them dragging this new friend they’ve made to a bathhouse in memory of our beloved purple tiefling. They’re allowing themselves to grieve while also celebrating him, and it’s such an appropriate take on death for this character.

A lot of times it feels like the world should just stop turning when someone you care about dies. It’s really refreshing to see a story about accepting that pain, but then moving past it to live life to the fullest, because it’s what that person would want you to do.

Wherever he is, I’m sure Molly is celebrating with the rest of the Mighty Nein as well.
